Welsh Conservatives are to meet with National Botanic Garden bosses this week, after the institution called on the Assembly Government to wipe out their debts.
Welsh transport chiefs have told Pembrokeshire's Assembly Members that the county must prove the A40 needs dualling.
Angela Burns and Paul Davies met deputy first minister Ieuan Wyn Jones and the head of transport for the Welsh Assembly Government to discuss the issue.
COMMENTING on a report to be aired on BBC Wales' Dragon's Eye programme tonight that the National Botanic Garden has called on the Assembly Government to write-off its £1.7mn debt and provide an annual grant of £500,000, Shadow Heritage Minister and Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said:
The amount of traffic using the A40 has increased by more than a quarter in the last six years.
Monitoring stations on the main artery from St Clears to Fishguard have also revealed that traffic is increasing almost twice as fast as on other roads.
