Welsh Conservatives today called on the Labour-Plaid Assembly Government to commit increased funding to eradicate Wales' broadband 'not spots'.
Shadow Culture Minister and Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies commented:
"There are still a great number of people in Pembrokeshire who are unable to access broadband services.
"The installation of facilities to accommodate broadband services in 'not spots' such as remote rural areas can be very costly."
Mr Davies detailed that he had met with Alan England of Neyland-based TFL Group, and discussed alternative wireless broadband solutions that the company specialise in. Mr England confirmed considerable further investment is required to resolve Pembrokeshire's broadband problems.
Mr Davies added:
"I would urge the Assembly Government to consider reintroducing a scheme similar to the Broadband Subsidy Scheme to assist people in Pembrokeshire in getting connected to broadband.
"Investment is vital if we want Pembrokeshire to be 'not spot' free."
