Following on from media claims that the National Clinical Forum's response to Hywel Dda health board's proposals to reconfigure services in west Wales may be rewritten to support their controversial changes, Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is investigating the matter seriously and writing to local health board representatives asking them to fully explain the situation. Material passed to the Welsh Conservatives show 'private emails' between the forum chair and the Betsi Cadwaladr health board's chief executive, detailing that the Hywel Dda response will also be subject to the same treatment.
Commenting on this, local Assembly Member Mr Davies said, "I'm disappointed that there are implications that Hywel Dda health board may be involved in this situation. If this is the case, then Hywel Dda health board must come clean and fully explain themselves.
Hywel Dda's reconfiguration plans for the area have rightly sparked concern across west Wales and this new information will not persuade my constituents that the process has been wholly transparent. I have written to the Chief Executive of the Hywel Dda local health board outlining my concerns and asking for his comments on this serious issue as soon as possible."
