Commenting on the news that First Minister Rhodri Morgan ruled out the dualling of the A40 while on a visit to Pembrokeshire, Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said:
"I am amazed at the short-sighted view that Rhodri Morgan is taking by ruling out the dualling of the A40. To say that the road is not busy enough to justify the work because the ferry traffic splits at St Clears is nonsense. Dualling it will not only benefit local businesses but also cut down on the number of serious accidents.
Does Mr Morgan appreciate how much busier our roads are in the summer?
While he was here he went to the Bluestone site so he's seen for himself the size of the development there. I think the Labour-Plaid Government is putting its head in the sand over this issue."
