Preseli Pembrokeshire Paul Davies has received a letter from the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport stating that the Welsh Government will not return the special care baby unit and full-time paediatric services to Withybush hospital.

Mr Davies said, “Once again the Welsh Government has had an opportunity to do the right thing and once again they’ve failed the people of Pembrokeshire. The Cabinet Secretary is convinced that his centralisation agenda is resulting in safer services when in reality his Government’s decisions could put lives at risk.”

He added, “It’s important that we continue to keep up the pressure on the Welsh Government because Ministers are just not understanding the impact on families in Pembrokeshire. People in Pembrokeshire are keeping up the fight to see their local hospital services return and that momentum must continue. For my part, I will keep raising this matter with the Welsh Government whenever I can until the special care baby unit and full-time paediatric services are returned to Withybush hospital.
