Speaking as 24 hour paediatric care is withdrawn from Withybush Hospital, Paul Davies, Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire, said:
"This is a dangerous decision, driven by bureaucrats' budget cuts, which will force sick babies and their families to travel further for 24 hour care.
"Pembrokeshire has recently lost its special care baby unit and is now losing overnight paediatric care, which many families fear is just the thin end of the wedge.
"Local communities have fought Labour's hospital centralisation plans every step of the way and I will continue to stand up for NHS services, in Pembrokeshire, for the people of Pembrokeshire."
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Darren Millar AM, said:
"Welsh Labour's record-breaking NHS cuts are biting hard and forcing local health bosses into terrible decisions based on bureaucrats' sums, not clinical priorities.
"If sick babies and their families are forced to travel further for treatment, their wellbeing could undoubtedly be compromised.
"Labour received money to protect the Welsh health budget but has chosen to put Pembrokeshire families at risk by downgrading and centralising services."
