The target of vaccinating 70% of care home staff and residents and 70% over the over-80s by Friday 22nd January has not been met by the Welsh Government, it has been confirmed. Responding to the news, local Member of the Senedd Paul Davies has called on the Welsh Government to seriously accelerate the pace of its rollout and leave no stone unturned in ensuring that people in priority groups receive their vaccine appointment as soon as possible.

Mr Davies said, “It’s deeply disappointing that the target to vaccinate 70% of care home staff and people over the age of 80 has not been met and I continue to receive correspondence from constituents right across the County who are worried and frustrated that they have yet to receive a vaccine appointment. I cannot stress how dangerous this virus is and so it’s vital that the Welsh Government explores all avenues and options to ensure that people in priority groups now receive the vaccine as soon as possible.”
