Shadow Welsh Culture Minister and Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies made closer links with Welsh language campaigners at the National Eisteddfod.
"I was given a very friendly welcome," said Mr Davies who led a debate in the Senedd in June calling for new legislation that would see Welsh get official language status alongside English.
During his two-day visit to the premier cultural event in Wales Mr Davies, who speaks Welsh as his first language, met representatives from the National Library of Wales and the Welsh Language Society.
"We spoke about the role of the Welsh language in Wales today and I have set up another meeting with them to discuss issues such as establishing a Welsh Language Commissioner," he added.
