The Territorial Army in Pembrokeshire is celebrating its centenary this year and is on the lookout for more recruits.
Serving members told Paul Davies, Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire and Conservative Parliamentary candidate for South Pembrokeshire Simon Hart about a special open day when they visited the Royal Logistics Corps stand at the County Show last week.
The Outreach Day is taking place at Castlemartin Range on Sunday 7 September and anyone interested in joining the TA can have a go at driving trucks, heavy goods vehicles and Land Rovers.
"It's aimed at people who may be a bit hesitant about signing up and giving them a chance to see every day life, how we sleep, live and work," said Sergeant Maurice Glynn from Carmarthen.
Also pictured showing the Conservative politicians around a 15-tonne DROPs truck is Corporal Ellis Thomas from Tumble, Lance Corporals Emma and Stephen Jones from Trelech who have recently completed an active tour of duty in Iraq and Sergeant Glynn, all from 224 (Pembrokeshire Yeomanry Squadron) Royal Logistics Corps.
"The Territorial Army does a fantastic job and are real unsung heroes," said Mr Davies.
Simon Hart, who served with the TA for five years, said: "I know first-hand just how rewarding it is to be a member and have never forgotten the camaraderie and valuable life lessons that I gained from the TA. I would encourage anyone interested to give it a go."
