The Shadow Tourism Minister was invited to the bird reserve to learn more about its wildlife and visitor amenities
"I was shown around the newly refurbished farm complex which can now sleep 15 people and is powered by wind and solar energy," said Mr Davies.
"Up to 250 people can visit the island a day and the Wildlife Trust is now trying to encourage more people to go, either for the day or for a longer stay."
Visitors can spend up to three nights on the island and it costs £35 per night.
"The accommodation is quite simple but it is in such a stunning location," added Mr Davies. "You don't get the opportunity to stay so close to nature very often."
