Milford Haven's Torch Theatre must be saved, says Shadow Welsh Culture Minister and Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies.

A vital £120,000 Arts Council for Wales grant for the theatre is at risk after Milford Haven Town Council halved its grant to the arts venue.

Mr Davies has contacted the Theatre's artistic director and general manager to pledge his full support.

"I do feel that the town council is taking a rather short-sighted view on this as the Torch Theatre brings business into the town," said Mr Davies.

"It doesn't just benefit Milford but the whole of Pembrokeshire. It's also a vitally important asset to the county, not just for cultural reasons but also educational ones."
