Shadow Culture Minister Celebrates Brunel's Legacy

The role played by Britain's greatest engineer in the history of Neyland has been outlined by the Welsh Shadow Minister for Culture.

Paul Davies AM officially opened the Brunel exhibition which is taking place at Neyland library.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed the terminus of the South Wales Railway at Neyland, parts of which can be seen to this day.

"Brunel was one of the most distinguished and gifted engineers of his generation, whose work undoubtedly helped to pave the road to the Industrial Revolution," said Mr Davies.

He added that making more of our historical legacy would encourage more visitors to Pembrokeshire. "Such a move would, no doubt, increase the numbers of visitors to Wales and provide much needed revenue that can be used to
preserve these attractions and support the communities in which they exist."

And he praised the Brunel Festival Association for raising the cultural profile of Neyland. "May I congratulate them on their commitment to the continued
celebration and promotion of the town and its cultural heritage," he added.

*The exhibition runs until October 27 during normal library hours and is free of charge to enter.
