Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is keen to ensure that people in Pembrokeshire are aware of Safer Internet Day which will take place on February 11th, promoting safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people.
Last year Safer Internet Day, which is organised by Insafe was celebrated in over 90 countries worldwide. This year is the 11th anniversary of the campaign, the strapline for which is 'Let's create a better internet together'.
Mr Davies said, "Safer Internet Day offers the perfect opportunity to reach out to parents and guardians, children and young people with important positive internet safety education messages. It provides a timely opportunity to reinforce internet safety education for all users.
"This technology is now part of everyday life for children and young people, and while the internet is a very good tool, we must never get complacent about promoting the dangers of the internet.
"I'd like to encourage all schools and parents in Pembrokeshire to use Safer Internet Day to educate our young people to be responsible when online. We can all play a part in helping to make the internet a great and safe place for all."
