Commenting on the Education Minister's statement on the Review of Further Education Governance in Wales, Shadow Education Minister Paul Davies AM said:

"We all know that Further Education plays a fundamental role in ensuring we have a skilled workforce that is able to support our country's economic development.

"It is now incumbent on the Minister to ensure that the task and finish group report within the time frames set out in today's Statement so that the issues surrounding Further Education governance can be addressed as a matter of urgency.

"However, it is important that this review does not encroach on the independence of Further Education providers.

"Institutions must be able to maintain their autonomy in order to ensure that they are flexible and free to deliver first class education in our communities."
