Regenerating towns in Preseli Pembrokeshire will be the topic of a short debate at the National Assembly this week thanks to local Assembly Member Paul Davies.
Mr Davies has been selected for a short debate on the 19th January and has decided to focus the debate around making Milford Haven and Fishguard strategic regeneration areas. The debate will look at a number of issues including the public transport infrastructure around the two towns, developing tourism and retail opportunities and supporting the growing energy sector in Pembrokeshire.
Paul Davies said, "This will be an opportunity to highlight some of the serious issues facing our towns of Milford Haven and Fishguard. There is a strong need to regenerate these areas, given their importance to the UK's energy needs and their potential for the Welsh tourism sector."
"It's clear that after the health service one of the most important issues that affect the people of Preseli Pembrokeshire is jobs and the local economy. In these circumstances, it is absolutely essential that we take the issues that matter to the people of Pembrokeshire seriously. I believe these towns play a very important strategic role for Wales and the UK and given this strategic importance, I will be urging the Deputy Minister for Regeneration and the Welsh Assembly Government to seriously consider including these towns in their strategic regeneration plans."
