Welsh Conservatives by delivering a keynote speech at the party conference in his mother tongue for the first time.
Mr Davies, who is Shadow Minister for culture, Welsh language and sport gave two thirds of his address to the party conference in Llandudno in his first language.
"It was the first time that we've had the translation facilities available at our Welsh conference and I took full advantage of them," said Mr Davies.
He told the delegates: "The Welsh Language is, of course, one of Wales' defining characteristics.
"Despite having its origins in the 6th century, it still has a fundamental role to play in our communities today.
"The Welsh Conservatives are committed to a bilingual Wales."
He spoke about his successful election campaign in Preseli Pembrokeshire and his work as a shadow minister.
He also outlined the importance of school playing fields, green spaces in Wales and the role Wales could play in the 2012 Olympics.
Mr Davies also paid tribute to Conservative leader David Cameron who has changed the face of the Conservative party.
"He has not, as some have suggested, changed our values or our principles – he has adapted them to suit the needs of the 21st Century," he added.
