Pressure Kept Up For Fishguard Rail Improvements To Be Considered

Paul Davies AM is continuing to keep pressure on the Welsh Assembly Government to consider improving rail services to Fishguard.

Paul Davies AM is continuing to keep pressure on the Welsh Assembly Government to consider improving rail services to Fishguard.

Mr Davies has been lobbying for years for an extra five trains a day to call at the important Irish ferry hub.

The Welsh Assembly's Enterprise and Learning Committee, regional transport consortium SWITTCH, local residents and the North Pembrokeshire Transport Forum have also called for improvements to the service.

At the moment only two trains call at the station every 24 hours – including one in the middle of the night.

The Preseli Pembrokeshire AM asked the Deputy First Minister if there was any timetable yet in place for considering the improvements.

"After all these years of pressure and lobbying from so many different groups and individuals it would be good to have some sort of guideline as to when the Fishguard situation will be looked at," said Mr Davies.
