Pembrokeshire residents are being urged by their AMs to get hold of a free booklet to help them save money and stay warm this winter.

Pembrokeshire residents are being urged by their AMs to get hold of a free booklet to help them save money and stay warm this winter.

The "Little Book of Energy" is full of practical tips and advice that can help people cut their energy bills.

"By calling the freephone number 0800 33 66 99 anyone can get hold of a copy," said shadow Welsh Environment Minister and South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns.

'The Little Book of Energy' is intended to make people more energy efficient around the home so that they use less and save more. This can be achieved through simple steps such as making sure radiators are not blocked by furniture or covered by curtains and only boiling as much water as you need.

Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies added: "I want to reassure people who may be worried about their fuel bills that there is help and advice available.

"It's better to find out what's out there and make sure it's well in place before the winter weather returns."

The book also highlights the range of support services available from the Home Heat Helpline which include:

· Advice on social tariffs – typically a 20 per cent saving

· The Priority Service Register which provides extra services for people who are elderly or disabled including bills in large text or Braille, security passwords and an annual gas safety check

· Grants for free home insulation

· Flexible payment options for customers in fuel debt

* Benefits entitlement checks

*To request a copy of 'The Little Book of Energy' or for more information, ring the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 or visit www.homeheathelpline.org.uk.
