Commenting on the publication of two reports - by Estyn and the Wales Audit Office – on children's services at Pembrokeshire County Council, Shadow Minister for Education Angela Burns AM, said:
"These reports should act as a massive wake-up call to all those involved in the continuing problems in Pembrokeshire – particularly the Education Minister. The promised improvements simply aren't working and our children are being repeatedly failed.
"Extremely worrying shortcomings are still widespread and changes are not being made quickly enough. Parents need absolute confidence that their children are being safeguarded.
"The Minister must look at this situation extremely carefully and provide far more leadership. I urge him to make a statement on these reports and commit to immediate improvements."
Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies said:
"I am extremely disappointed at the progress being made in children's services.
"The Ministerial Board has been in place for long enough to make significant change and improvement. These reports suggest that isn't happening quickly enough."
