The reorganisation of Pembrokeshire's health care system is topsy-turvy, says local AM Paul Davies.
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that the three health care trusts which cover the old Dyfed area are to be merged to save on administration costs.
Now the health minister Edwina Hart has revealed that she's also likely to create a "federation" of Local Health Boards.
"I have been calling for a merger of the Health Boards for a long time and any reduction in their numbers is to be welcomed," said Mr Davies.
Under the Conservatives there were five health boards serving the whole of Wales but Labour increased this to 22. This now looks likely to be reduced once again.
"I am dead against the merger of the health trusts as it may lead to a marginalisation of healthcare services in Pembrokeshire," said Mr Davies.
"But without merging the boards as well we would have ended up in a situation where we had one super trust delivering the services and three different boards commissioning the services. It would have been completely inconsistent and created all sorts of problems between them."
