Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has continued his support of the campaign against the planned closure of the special care baby unit at Withybush, by attending the latest demonstration outside the hospital. Organised by the Save Withybush Action Team (SWAT), more than 100 people gathered outside Withybush hospital to protest for the unit to be saved.
Mr Davies said, "This campaign underlines the importance of the special care baby unit at Withybush hospital and it is vital that this unit is not closed or relocated. We have already heard from clinicians how closing this unit would have a detrimental effect on families of unborn babies across Pembrokeshire and it is important that we continue to campaign against the closure of these lifesaving services."
Earlier this month, Mr Davies launched an urgent petition and collected signatures during the three days of the Pembrokeshire County Show with local MPs Stephen Crabb and Simon Hart.
"It is important that as local representatives, we all ensure that the voices of our constituents are heard. I'm pleased that our petition is gaining momentum and I would like to take this opportunity to assure my constituents that we will continue to press the local health board and the Welsh Government on this issue."
