Local Member of the Senedd Paul Davies has welcomed the news that VAT relief will be extended to businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors. In July, the Chancellor cut the VAT rate from 20% to 5% for a period of six months but this has now been extended until March 2021.
Mr Davies said, “I’m delighted that the Chancellor has decided to extend the VAT relief offered to businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector and I’m sure this news will be welcomed by those businesses in Pembrokeshire. The tourism and hospitality industry is so important to our local economy and given the uncertainties still faced by many businesses, extending the VAT relief will make a real difference and help support the industry at this time. Of course, it’s still a very difficult time for businesses across Pembrokeshire and so I urge Governments at all levels to maintain a dialogue with the sector about the challenges that they’re facing and explore all avenues to help protect their sustainability for the future.”
