Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently visited the ongoing work to build a new RNLI lifeboat station at St David’s. The new boathouse will also have a slipway for the new Tamar class lifeboat and additional space to accommodate the smaller D-class inshore lifeboat. The new boathouse is being built metres away from the original boathouse location and aims to give improved operational conditions.
Mr Davies said, “I was delighted to have a tour of the new boathouse and to see its progress first-hand. The new facilities will provide a valuable lifeline in the local area and it’s great to see the construction work progressing nicely. RNLI play such an important role in saving lives at sea and I’m sure the new facilities will further support search and rescue operations in the future.
He added, “This new boathouse is also being supported by the local community, who have been generous in supporting the RNLI, so thank you to everyone who has contributed to this very worthwhile cause - your money may save someone’s life one day.”
