Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has attended the opening of the Thomas Parry Woodland project in Haverfordwest. The project provides improved access to the woodland by the installation of a bridge crossing the stream as well as the creation of a new Haverfordwest Orchard, which will be open to all. 120 fruit and nut trees have been planted in the paddocks with wild flower plugs, to create a visually attractive urban green space for the whole community.
Mr Davies said “I was privileged to be at the opening of this exciting woodland project. Times have changed and there is certainly an increased recognition of the threat from climate change – which means it’s more important than ever that we protect and enhance our woodland areas.
He added, “There are so many wonderful benefits to this project, from providing a rich habitat for many rare and threatened woodland species to educating children and young people about the geographical world around us. Woodlands and trees can make a big difference - not just to our lives but to those of future generations too, and I sincerely hope that people of all ages take advantage of this exciting project.”
