Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting Carers Week 2013 in aid of the thousands of carers in Wales who look after a family member, friend or partner; who needs help because they are ill, frail or have a disability. National Carers Week is promoted by national charities including Carers UK and runs from Monday June 10th to Sunday June 16th. This year's theme is called "Prepared to Care?" Every day at least 6,000 people start caring and becoming a carer can impact significantly on a person's life – it takes time and energy, can leave you isolated and can be costly.
Paul Davies said, "I'm pleased to support Carers Week 2013, which recognises the commitment and compassion of carers in Pembrokeshire, and indeed, across Wales and I have signed the National Assembly's Statement of Opinion on this to show my support. Without the dedication of these unsung heroes, the burden on, and cost to, the NHS would be dramatically increased, and in today's financial climate, the available workforce would be unable to meet the demand. Therefore, I'm delighted to once again support National Carers Week and recognise the contribution that carers make to the people they care for and their communities. For more information on the events being held both nationally and locally this week, visit http://carersweek.org/ for more information."
