Local AM Paul Davies recently took part in a Welsh Conservative debate on Natural Resources in the Assembly Chamber. The debate, tabled by the Welsh Conservatives called upon the Welsh Government to encourage a wider range of renewable energies, including but not limited to, marine renewables, anaerobic digestion and hydropower.
Speaking from the Senedd, Paul Davies said, "I was pleased to take part in a debate on the richness of Wales' natural resources. As Pembrokeshire is the energy capital of Wales, I felt that this was a great opportunity to highlight what Pembrokeshire offers Wales, particularly in the 'lesser-talked about' field of marine energy."
"We mustn't underestimate the importance of the marine industry, not only to the overall energy industry in Wales, but to our economy as well. Therefore, it's essential that the Welsh Government does more to promote the marine industry and engage with the sector in the future. Pembrokeshire has the potential to be a global-leader in the marine energy market, and I urge the Welsh Government to support this sector and afford it a higher level of priority than it currently does."
