Services at Withybush hospital were once again the subject of a debate at the Senedd, thanks to local Assembly Member Paul Davies. Mr Davies took the opportunity to highlight developments at Withybush hospital following the Health Minister's decision to close the Special Care Baby Unit earlier this year.

Mr Davies said, "I was pleased to have the opportunity once again raise the issue of Withybush hospital at the Assembly. The Minister and his colleagues must accept that people in Pembrokeshire will not give up their health services without a fight. Since the Minister's announcement, we have seen another announcement by the local heath board to downgrade paediatrics from a full-time model to a 12hr model – and the Minister still refuses to acknowledge the effect that this downgrading could have on other services at the hospital.

Mr Davies' debate comes after protestors took to the Senedd to raise their concerns over the cuts to services at Withybush hospital.

He added, "The people of Pembrokeshire have spoken loud and clear on this issue and it's important that we keep up the momentum and the pressure. Thousands of signatures were collected via petitions, demonstrating the strength of feeling on this issue. It's time now that the Minister listens to the people of Pembrokeshire before it's too late."
