Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently visited the Pembrokeshire branch of Asbestos Awareness and Support Cymru, where he heard first-hand about the advice and support offered to families affected by asbestos-related illnesses. Support group meetings are held once a month, where people can meet with others on an informal basis and share friendships and experiences about living with asbestos exposure.
Following the visit, Mr Davies said, "I was honoured to visit the local AASC branch and hear about the support on offer for those affected by asbestos exposure. Listening to the group explain some of the huge challenges facing people with asbestos-related diseases has certainly given me a better understanding of the issues that they face on a day-to-day basis and I can better appreciate just how difficult it can be to live with an asbestos-related illness. Victims and their families are encouraged to have an input into the group and attend meetings where they can raise concerns and talk to others and share their experiences. For more information on the work of the support and advice on offer from Asbestos Awareness and Support Cymru, you can visit www.a-a-s-c.org.uk."
