Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies is encouraging local holidaymakers to have their say on what Welsh tourism has to offer and how the industry could be improved or marketed differently. The Welsh Conservatives have launched a twin track consultation on the future of tourism in Wales and the results of the surveys will feed directly into Welsh Conservative policy development and inform the Welsh Conservative manifesto for the 2016 Assembly elections. The second survey will invite contributions from people working in the Welsh tourist industry, seeking views about the work and structure of Visit Wales.
Paul Davies said, "I would like to encourage holidaymakers from Pembrokeshire to contribute to our debate on the future of our tourism industry. The launch of these surveys is the latest step in Welsh Conservative engagement with the tourism industry to identify the demands of holidaymakers and whether our tourism offer is equipped to meet expectations. I believe that listening to the needs and expectations of holidaymakers is essential to developing a prosperous and truly sustainable tourism sector.
He added, "Small tourism operators in Pembrokeshire and indeed across Wales have made it clear that the Welsh Labour Government's tourism strategy is flawed, with insufficient support for small businesses and an unidentifiably clear brand for Wales. Therefore, we are inviting views from across the industry to create a strategy that best reflects the views of the sector and supports tourism businesses.
