Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has shown his support for the nation's heart charity and donated a bag of unwanted items to a local British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop in Haverfordwest as part of a new campaign aimed at funding further research into children born with heart defects.
Mr Davies said, "I'm pleased to have played a small part to support British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru's Bag it. Beat it campaign to raise funds to support vital research work into congenital heart disease so that more children's lives can be saved. Please encourage your friends, neighbours, family and colleagues to simply fill up a bag and join the BHF in the fight against heart disease."
Delyth Lloyd, Policy & Advocacy Manager at British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru said: "We are delighted that Paul has filled a donation bag and supported our new Bag it. Beat it. campaign. Every week, three children in Wales are born with heart defects. They account for more birth defects than combined figures for limb defects, facial problems such as cleft palate and respiratory problems. Many will have lost their lives before reaching school age."
She added, "Each bag donated to BHF Cymru shops is estimated to be worth around £20, which is enough to fund a full day's laboratory costs and enable the continuation of pioneering and vital research into congenital heart disease to help save more lives"
