Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has attended a short learning session organised by the British Red Cross and Cardiff Youth Council to learn valuable resuscitation skills. Over 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests happen in the UK every year and less than 1 in 10 people survive. Initiating CPR can double the chances of survival.

Mr Davies said, “I was delighted to learn more about how to help someone having a cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrests can happen to anyone and any time and it’s important that as many people as possible are able to respond quickly. It’s important that lifesaving skills like this are also taught in schools to ensure that children and young people are equipped with the skills they need to help someone having a cardiac arrest. There’s a responsibility on all of us to teach our future generations these skills to better protect and serve our local communities and I look forward to working with schools, local authorities and other stakeholders to see more and more learners leaving school with valuable lifesaving skills.”
