Local Assembly Member Paul Davies AM has spoken out regarding services at Withybush hospital, as part of a debate on District General hospitals across Wales. The debate focused on the importance of District General Hospitals and called on the Welsh Government to make a statement saying that it would not allow local health boards to centralise services away from hospitals such as Withybush.
Paul Davies said, "I am very pleased that District General Hospitals were once again on the Assembly agenda as it is a fantastic opportunity to continue to raise the issue of potentially centralising services at Withybush hospital.
"Naturally, this has been of huge concern to my constituents and I welcome any opportunity to raise this issue with the Health Minister in the Chamber. Whilst I fully accept that the health service is facing tight financial settlements at the moment, it is essential that in such difficult economic times, people can easily access the health services and treatment that they need locally."
"The Welsh Government must recognise the importance of consultation and engagement with local communities. I hope that the Minister's newly appointed National Clinical Forum does not endanger consultation with local communities and that the views of my constituents are heard loud and clear on this issue."
