Paul Davies AM pledges support for WWF Cymru’s Earth Hour 2019

Earth Hour

Paul Davies, Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire has pledged his support for WWF’s 2019 Earth Hour campaign.

Every year millions of people throughout the world turn off their lights for an hour, and several organise events in their communities.

For 2019, the Earth Hour will take place on Saturday 30th March, between 8.30pm-9.30pm with homes, businesses’ and landmarks all over Wales due to take part.

In 2018, more than 400,000 people in Wales took part and sent a clear message about how much they care about the future of our planet. Wales’ iconic landmarks including the Senedd and Cardiff Castle joined global landmarks, from the Empire State building to Sydney Opera House, to switch off for the planet.

Paul Davies AM is supporting the calls by the WWF for people in Wales to pledge to make one small change in their day to day lives to help protect the planet. Suggested changes are using a reusable water bottle, lowering the temperature of the washing machine or helping to restore a nature project in the community. The WWF feel that these small actions could have significant impact on the future of our planet if many people get involved.

Paul Davies said, “As an Assembly Member and as an individual, I understand how important it is that I have a pivotal role to play in safeguarding the future of the natural world. We have seen populations of wildlife plummet in Wales and this needs to be halted. Everyone depends on nature for clear air and water, fertile soils and to improve our health and wellbeing.

I hope many people in Preseli Pembrokeshire, and across Wales, will make a pledge for Earth Hour and switch off at 8.30pm on Saturday 30th March’.
