Voting has now opened for young people in Wales to elect their Youth Parliament Members. There will be 60 young people elected, 40 by votes from young people and 20 from partner organisations.

The Youth Parliament will give young people, between the ages of 11-17, an opportunity to express their opinions on the matters affecting them in a formal setting. The role will be for 2 years.

‘As the constituency member for Preseli Pembrokeshire, I was delighted to learn that an impressive 11 young people have put themselves forward to stand for office. I would like to say congratulations to everyone for standing, as it takes much courage and confidence to do this at such a young age. I am looking forward to working alongside Preseli Pembrokeshire’s newest elected representative.

The creation of a Youth Parliament is a fantastic gateway into the world of Welsh Politics and a brilliant opportunity for the Assembly to reach out more widely to involve children and young people’.
