The introduction of part-time 20mph limits around schools across Wales has been welcomed by local Assembly Member Paul Davies. Four schools in Pembrokeshire will be affected by the Welsh Government announcement; Holy Name Catholic Primary School, Ysgol Gynradd Eglwyswrw, Ysgol Bro Gwaun and Milford Haven Comprehensive School. Fishguard Primary School will see dropped kerbs and waiting restrictions as well as being covered by a full time 20mph speed limit.
Mr Davies said, “I’m pleased to see that speed limits are being put in place to protect school children across Wales. I have been campaigning to reduce the current speed limit and it’s great to see that change is finally coming and whilst I welcome this move, the Welsh Government needs to ensure that all school zones have 20mph limits. The Welsh Government has made it clear that the work will be completed over the next three years and I look forward to seeing that work taking place. These measures will certainly help save lives and prevent casualties and I’m sure they will be welcomed by local communities.”
