COMMENTING on the appointment of Alun Ffred Jones as the new Heritage Minister, Shadow Heritage Minister Paul Davies AM said:

"I am pleased the Assembly Government has stopped dithering and finally appointed a replacement to Rhodri Glyn Thomas.

"This portfolio was too important to remain vacant for as long as it did, especially with the National Eisteddfod just days away.

"I wish Alun Ffred Jones well in his new job. He faces many challenges, particularly on the Assembly Government's plans for the Welsh language."
