RESPONDING to Welsh Secretary Paul Murphy's comments today on proposed new Welsh language legislation, Shadow Heritage Minister Paul Davies AM said:
"I welcome the Secretary of State's comments on the proposed new Welsh language legislation.
"He has certainly shed more light on the subject than his colleagues in the Assembly Government.
"We await with interest the detail of these long-delayed proposals. We are repeatedly told they are a central part of the Labour-Plaid administration's agenda yet nothing has materialised for more than a year.
"Having seen ministers vote down Welsh Conservative proposals for new Welsh language legislation just last week many people in Wales will see the Assembly Government's commitment as nothing more than empty rhetoric."
