Shadow Welsh Sports Minister Paul Davies says Pembrokeshire's sports clubs mustn't lose out because of the Olympics.
It's estimated that Wales will lose at least £70million in funding to the 2012 Olympics. The Commons Welsh Affairs Committee was told that the figure could rise to as much as £100 million if all factors were taken into account.
"The Welsh Conservatives are fully supportive of the London Olympics but there is a case that the Government should provide a Barnett consequential which would see Wales being repaid the money it is losing," said Mr Davies, who is also Preseli Pembrokeshire's Assembly Member.
"Counties and regions are quite often repaid by the Government when they have lost out on funding due to special projects.
"Quite a lot of the spend on the Olympics is going on regenerating east London and I believe that Wales should get a windfall repayment on its Olympic funding. This money isn't just going to pay for a one-off event but for long term benefits for this part of the capital city.
"It would be the ultimate irony if the blue riband of sporting events was to cause local sports organisations to suffer."
