Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies recently visited Llain Las, an Independent Living Scheme in Fishguard to meet with staff and residents to discuss the scheme and how it supports older people to live independently. Built in 1986, Llain Las houses 32 flats, including mobility and wheelchair standard properties and is further supported by resident management staff and a community alarm service.
Following the visit Mr Davies said, “I was delighted to visit Llain Las and speak to residents about their experiences. It was heart-warming to hear how happy the residents are here and a lot of that is down to the hard work and support that they have had from their Independent Living Scheme manager, Helen Lucas, who is doing a fantastic job. It’s quite clear that Llain Las offers its residents greater independent living in a safe, social and caring environment. Cantref and its staff engage well with the residents and also provide advice and support regarding a range of issues such as financial matters, housing issues and accessing other statutory and voluntary services.”
