Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has recently visited the Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre in Haverfordwest, to donate some much needed supplies to the centre. Founded in June 2008, the centre aims to help animals in need by offering shelter until more permanent housing becomes available.
Mr Davies said, "I was honoured to visit Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre to see the wonderful work that is being done by local volunteers to provide a safe and loving environment for these animals. This centre receives absolutely no public funding, and therefore relies entirely on supporter fundraising and public donations to keep the centre open. Sadly, many pet owners cannot afford to have their animals neutered and this has resulted in an increase in demand for help from places like Greenacres. This centre provides a much needed home environment for these animals, and so it is important that we do all we can to support them. Therefore I would encourage animal lovers across Pembrokeshire to show their support by volunteering, fostering animals or making a small donation. Greenacres Director, Mikey Lawlor added, "It's great to have Paul visit the centre and support our work. We believe that education is the key to addressing the problem of cruelty in the future and this is something we discussed with Paul on his visit."
