Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has urged Assembly Members to commit to the UK Government's long-term economic plan in a Senedd debate on the Queen's speech. The UK Government is bringing forward 11 Bills in this parliamentary session and is continuing to pay down the record budget deficit left by the previous Labour Government. Mr Davies decided to focus his remarks on the commitment to small businesses in the programme.
Mr Davies said, "I was delighted to take part in the Queen's speech debate and to use the opportunity to highlight how the UK Government is supporting small businesses. SMEs are the backbone of the Pembrokeshire economy and I'm pleased that for example, the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill, will support Pembrokeshire's businesses by reducing the burden of regulation, helping them get paid faster and streamlining the procurement process."
Mr Davies also welcomed the UK Government's commitment to help pub landlords get a fair deal. He added, "Our pubs in Pembrokeshire are crucial to the local tourism sector and are vital community assets and I'm delighted that the UK Government accept that. The Welsh Government must now match these commitments to ensure that small businesses and pubs get the support they need and deserve."
