Local Welsh Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting a new strategy launched by the Welsh Conservative Party. It focusses on the future of the Welsh tourism industry, aiming to determine how the sector can be improved or marketed differently.
The new strategy will launch two surveys as a twin track consultation, one asking the holiday makers for their views on welsh tourism whilst the other will ask those individuals who work in the industry their thoughts on the current economy and how they want it improved.
The survey aimed towards the holiday makers is to establish the demands of the visitors and whether the Pembrokeshire tourism industry is qualified to meet expectations. The survey aimed for those working within the sector will assist in creating a strategy that best reflects the views of the industry and supports small local businesses.
Although we are waiting on this seasons' primary figures, there has already been a record number of visitors in some of the top tourist attractions in the county. This year has also seen businesses in the accommodation sector fully booked, giving promising expectations to the end of season figures.
Chief Executive of Pembrokeshire Tourism Maudie Hughes explains how the consultation is looking to ensure the tourism industry has a further outlet for its views "Pembrokeshire has been busy all summer, and for us here at Pembrokeshire Tourism our main aim is to keep this momentum going. I look forward to the outcome of this consultation, and supporting businesses further in developing the tourism sector in the county, encouraging future return visits".
The results from the new policy will encourage the Welsh Conservative manifesto for the 2016 Assembly elections.
