Local AM Paul Davies this week raised concerns with the Minister for Business and Budget, Jane Hutt AM over the developments on green spaces in urban areas; and called for a statement from the Environment Minister, Jane Davidson AM giving guidance on what the Welsh Assembly Government is doing to support local authorities to protect green spaces.
Paul Davies said, "I am happy to raise the issue of development on green spaces in urban areas, in the Chamber. This is an issue of considerable importance to a number of my constituents. Naturally, I accept that we need to see developments if we are to meet housing needs, but it is important to protect the green spaces that are available to existing communities."
"The Assembly Government needs to provide leadership on this issue. I will continue to monitor this situation and press the authorities and the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that green spaces are available for communities so that children have somewhere to play and adults can relax and enjoy their environment."
