Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has asked the Health Minister for assurances that the planned renal unit at Withybush hospital will continue to go ahead, despite the Hywel Dda health board's decision to review the costings of their proposal.
Local AM Paul Davies said: "I am pleased that the Minister has provided assurances to local communities on this very important issue. This is a much-needed facility in my constituency, which would improve patient care substantially in Pembrokeshire."
"In the meantime, I will continue to monitor this situation and raise this issue with the Minister at every available opportunity. It is essential that a permanent renal unit is located at Withybush hospital; and not downgraded to a satellite Dialysis Unit without the full complement of staff, consultants and expertise that a Renal Unit demands."
