Local AM Encourages Schools to Take Part in Anti-litter Competition

Litter

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is calling on all schools in Pembrokeshire to take part in an anti-litter competition , by creating a radio advert encouraging the local area to responsibly dispose of gum litter. Radio Pembrokeshire has teamed up with The Wrigley Company Limited and Keep Wales Tidy to offer this exciting opportunity, which will see two groups spend time with the Radio Pembrokeshire team and make their own radio advert.

Mr Davies said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for local schools to take part in a wonderful campaign to raise awareness of gum litter in the area. I'm sure there are plenty of budding DJs in Pembrokeshire who would love to take to the airwaves of Radio Pembrokeshire – and this is a great opportunity to do so. I'm sure that local schools will get involved and that we'll see a range of excellent scripts. So get creative and may the best teams win!"

To take part in this brilliant competition:

  • Work in a group or class to create a 20 second script (that's about 50 words) for your radio advert to discourage schoolmates and people in Pembrokeshire from littering – get a teacher involved and remember you must be under 16 and at a school in Pembrokeshire.
  • Work with your teacher to start spreading the word about responsible gum disposal; maybe it could be mentioned in assembly or during a discussion in class. Your teacher can find helpful materials on www.chewitbinit.com and www.keepwalestidy.org.
