Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is encouraging the people of Pembrokeshire to come forward and receive the flu jab, to protect themselves against the winter flu. Sadly, just 51.8 per cent of over 65s in Wales have been vaccinated against a Welsh Government target of 75 per cent. Similarly, 34.9 per cent of those under 65 and in an at-risk group have been vaccinated in Wales against a government target of 75 per cent.

Mr Davies said "These figures are worryingly low and suggest the potential for more winter pressure on our NHS in Wales. I would like to therefore encourage the people of Pembrokeshire to get immunised as soon as possible. The effect of flu can be very serious for at-risk groups, such as older people and those with respiratory conditions, and so it is essential that people contact their GP about a flu vaccination as part of their normal preparations for winter."
