Local AM Debates Armed Forces

Paul Davies AM has recently taken part in a Welsh Conservative debate on Armed Forces in the Assembly Chamber

Paul Davies AM has recently taken part in a Welsh Conservative debate on Armed Forces in the Assembly Chamber. The debate, tabled by the Welsh Conservatives called on the Welsh Government to formally recognise the 100-year anniversary of the Great War in 2014, address the needs of our armed forces and ex-forces personnel with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and to develop and implement a dedicated Armed Forces Card.

Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said, "I was honoured to take part in such an important debate which looked at ways of supporting ex-armed forces personnel, once they return from duty. We must all acknowledge and respect the incredible contribution that our armed forces make on active duty all over the world. It is essential; therefore, that proper care and support is available to our armed forces personnel when they return home. I sincerely hope that the Welsh Government considers our calls and does everything that it can to help support our veterans adjust to civilian life. Our dedicated veterans' card would formalise benefits available to veterans, which would entitle all service personnel resident in Wales to priority treatment for service-related conditions or injuries on the NHS, as well as priority delivery of disabled facilities grants for home adaptation. It would also give them free bus travel, free entry to council-run leisure facilities and to Cadw heritage sites."
