Local AM Paul Davies was pleased to attend an NFU Welsh food reception at the Assembly this week, which celebrated Welsh produce and the Welsh food industry. Mr Davies met with NFU Cymru members and agricultural industry representatives to celebrate the high quality of Welsh food and to discuss issues facing the Welsh food industry today.
Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies said, "It was a huge privilege to attend this wonderful event. This event is a tribute to the farmers of Wales just as much as it is to their produce. Wales' reputation for fine food is a great acknowledgement of the hard work of farmers across the country."
"The Welsh food industry already contributes up to 7 per cent (£79.4 billion) of UK Gross Value Added and over 55,000 people work in the food and drink sector across the country. This event was a great chance to acknowledge the importance of the food industry in Wales and to celebrate its produce. Pembrokeshire in particular plays a key role in the Welsh food industry and given that agriculture is one of the main industries in my constituency, it is important that we promote hardworking farmers' efforts and celebrate their produce at every opportunity."
