Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has called on the Welsh Government to follow the UK Government’s announcement that all care home residents and staff who have suspected Covid19 symptoms will be tested.

Mr Davies said, “It’s understood from the latest figures that around one in three care homes in Wales have been hit by coronavirus and so it’s clear that far more needs to be done to test residents and staff in the care home sector. Of course, I welcome any additional resources that are being made available, but it’s imperative that that funding is received by care providers as soon as possible. The feedback that I’ve had from the sector tells me that support is needed -and needed now and so I’m happy to support calls for the Welsh Government to do more to expedite the testing of residents and staff in the social care sector, to ensure those affected can have access to the support and treatment they need in a timely fashion.”
