The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives has welcomed the Prime Minister's statement on the progression with the EU draft withdrawal agreement.

Specifically, Paul Davies AM praised the Prime Minister for the way she has fought for the interests of Wales and the wider UK in these 'extraordinary times'.

The comments came following the announcement that the UK Government has backed a draft withdrawal agreement between the UK and the EU.

Paul Davies AM said:

'These are extraordinary times and I want to pay tribute to the Prime Minister for the way she has fought for the interests of Wales and the wider UK in the Brexit negotiations.

'It will now be for the UK Parliament to decide whether to back this deal or leave the EU without one.

'I look forward to studying the detail of the agreement in the coming days to determine its impact on Wales.'

'The people of Wales voted to leave the EU and their wishes must be respected.'
